SAUGUS – Saugus Police helped bust a Peabody man who was wanted on 14 warrants totaling close to 60 charges.Peabody Police said William J. Meehan Jr., 41, of 98 Central St., #208, Peabody was arrested along with his wife, Beth A. Meehan, 36, also of 98 Central St. #208 at the Red Roof Inn on Route 1 in Saugus after Peabody Police were able to track them down.?One of our detectives got information that he was staying at the Red Roof Inn in Saugus,” said Peabody Police Sgt. Robert Waugh. “We called Saugus and they were nice enough to pick him up then we went and picked him up and his wife. Most of his warrants were from Peabody. That?s why we were looking for him.”According to the Peabody Police log, William Meehan had a total of 14 warrants from Woburn, Peabody, Salem, Lawrence and Lowell. The warrants included 17 counts of uttering a false check, 17 counts of larceny by check over $250, eight counts of larceny over $250, six counts of larceny over $250 by false pretense and six counts of receiving stolen property over $250.Meanwhile, Beth Meehan had five outstanding warrants from Peabody, Salem and Woburn which included sexual conduct for a fee, reckless endangerment of a child, six counts of uttering a false check, four counts of larceny by check over $250, three counts of receiving stolen property over $250, three counts of larceny over $250 by false pretense and two counts of forgery of a check.According to the Saugus Police log, a 20-month-old child was placed into the custody of the grandmother.Matt Tempesta may be reached at [email protected].
