SALEM — A Grand Jury has indicted two Winchester men and a Revere woman with conspiracy and misleading investigators in connection with the January 2007 hit-and-run deaths of two pedestrians on Route 1 in Saugus, according to a press release from Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office:

* Michael S. Tranchita Jr., 33, of 63 Harvard St., Winchester, is charged with leaving the scene of a death, conspiracy and two counts of misleading a potential witness.

* His father, Michael S. Tranchita Sr., 55, of 69 Harvard St., Winchester, is charged with conspiracy, misleading a potential witness and misleading an investigator.

* Lisa Cutting, 39, of 263 Bradstreet Ave., Revere, is charged with conspiracy, misleading an investigator and accessory after the fact, according to a press release from Blodgett’s office.

Police responded at 11:35 p.m. Jan. 5, 2007 to a crash on Route 1 south in Saugus which involved a vehicle and two pedestrians, according to the press release.

Tina Tello, 33, of Stoneham, and Christopher Zullo, 28, of Everett, were attempting to cross Route 1 south near Essex Street – an area not designated for pedestrian travel – when they were struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, according to Blodgett’s office.

Tello was pronounced dead at the scene; Zullo was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he died two days later, according to the press release.

A spokesperson for Blodgett said that Tranchita Jr. was identified as the driver of the vehicle.

The defendants voluntarily surrendered themselves Monday for booking and will be summonsed to be arraigned in Salem Superior Court at a future date, according to Blodgett’s office.
