LYNN — Lynn Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying and finding the suspect in a robbery reported at a Central Square bank Wednesday morning.
“A white male wearing a tan jacket, jeans and a black hat with a red brim robbed the bank and fled on foot,” Lynn Police Lt. Christopher Kelly said in a press release. “If anyone witnessed this incident or has any information, they are encouraged to contact the Lynn Police Department.
Police said the robbery occurred at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday at the Sovereign Bank at 39 Exchange St.
Police rushed into the bank and a number of cruisers and unmarked police vehicles were parked outside the building at that time, The Daily Item staff reported from their vantage point across the street from the site.
Kelly said in an afternoon email that the suspect “made reference he was armed,” but Kelly could not specify any weapon involved. The man is alleged to have fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, Kelly wrote.
Kelly said police are not sure whether a vehicle was involved in the incident but they are not seeking more than the single suspect.
Police asked anybody with information on the incident to call the Lynn Police Department at 781-595-2000 or to text a tip to Lynn Police. Anybody with a cell phone can send an anonymous tip to the Lynn Police by texting the word “tiplynn” and tip information to “tip411” or 847411, Kelly said.
