In fact, enrolled agents are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxes and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS, which is especially pertinent since audits have jumped exponentially.

Degen also points out that the status of enrolled agent is the highest credential awarded by the IRS.
