LYNN — A judge ordered a man to stay away from the alleged victim after police say a woman reported he sexually assaulted her when he visited to wish her a happy new year.
“The victim stated she pushed his hand away, which made her feel awkward not knowing what to say,” Lynn Police Officer Michael Hanlon wrote in a police report. “She asked the suspect if he had any candy, which she stated the suspect would normally bring over for her family.”
Samell Abdalla, 44, of 68 Bessom St. #3, was arrested and charged with indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.
The alleged victim told police she had got into Abdalla’s car Monday to wish him a happy new year, according to police. But Abdalla licked her when she went to kiss him on the cheek and grabbed her hand, placed it on her crotch and pulled at her zipper, according to the report.
She said Abdalla put his hand under her clothes and touched her breast after she got the candy from the trunk and returned to the car, according to the report.
The alleged victim told police she made up an excuse to leave the car and reported the incident to her mother. Meanwhile, she said Abdalla texted her “thank you,” according to the report.
The mother told police she contacted Abdalla.
“The suspect denied doing anything and the mother ”¦ contacted the police after speaking with her daughter when she returned home,” Hanlon wrote.
Police arrested Abdalla at his home.
He posted $1,000 bail to be released from jail and appeared at his arraignment in Lynn District Court Wednesday.
Neither the man’s appointed defense attorney or prosecutors discussed or argued about any details of the case in open court – both sides telling the judge they agreed to the amount of the posted bail and that Abdalla stay away from the alleged victim.
Judge Ellen Flatley scheduled a pre-trial hearing for Feb. 27.
