CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A Saugus man stopped for speeding on Interstate 93 in Concord has been charged with possessing marijuana after state police say they found about 8 pounds of the drug in his trunk.
Police said 43-year-old Philip Perez was unable to produce a driver’s license when he a state trooper stopped him Wednesday night on northbound I-93. A records check showed that it was suspended.
The trooper arrested Perez, then examined the car. He saw several bags of what appeared to be marijuana when he opened the trunk. Police later seized eight bags of marijuana from the trunk, weighing about 8 pounds.
Perez is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14 on charges of speeding, driving after suspension, and possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.
