CONCORD, NH — A driver stopped for speeding on Interstate 93 in Concord was charged with possessing marijuana after state police say they found about 8 pounds of the drug in his trunk.

Police said 43-year-old Philip Perez of Saugus, Mass., was unable to produce a driver’s license when stopped Wednesday night on northbound I-93.

The trooper arrested Perez, then examined the car. He saw several bags of what appeared to be marijuana when he opened the trunk. Perez is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14.
