The Lynn Classical and Lynn English track and field teams split Monday evening’s matchup at Lynn Tech with the Classical girls winning 50.5-29.5 while the English boys prevailed 55-30.Click here for a photo gallery.In girls action, Classical got wins from Jennifer Gaudet in the 300m with a time of 47.2 and from Carla Altema in the 50-yard hurdles with a time of 8.6. Taylor Ferraro won the 2-mile in 15:53.2 while English’s Karla Ross won the 1-mile in 6:37.9. Classical also got wins from Anna Wargo (6.6) in the 50 yards and from Fotini Galiotzakis (26-10) in the shot put.The English boys had an impressive day with several great performances including Adam Bryson’s win in the 300m (41.3) and Alex Bonito’s victory in the 600m (1:35.1). English also got wins in the 50-yard hurdles from Josh Manzanillo (8.0) and from Desmond Wilhemsen in the 50 yards (6.1). Classical got wins in the shot put (38-91/2) and high jump (5-6) from Steve Sam and George Clark respectively.St. Mary’s 84, Austin Prep 59At the Lewis Center, the Spartans evened their record at 2-2 with several noteworthy performances from both the boys and girls side of the competition.In boys action, Victor Molle took first in the 50m with a time of 7.16 while Justin O’Blenes won the 300m with a time of 38.96. Also picking up victories were Alex Ekstrom in the hurdles (11.79) and Chris Blake in the shot put (31-8).The girls had a double-winner in Hannah McCormick who won in both the hurdles (12.3) and in the high jump (four feet). Carol DiMaitti won the 50m with a time of 7.94 while teammates Toni Vinciarelli (47.74) and Jen Brunco (4:10.0) won the 300m and 1000m respectively.Also picking up victories for the Spartans were Rachel Hanlon in the long jump (12-4) and Kennedy Boyd in the shot put (24-3).BOYS TRACKBishop Fenwick 50, Cathedral/Lowell Catholic 26At the Reggie Lewis Center, the Crusaders (4-1) had wins from Eric Razney 300 (39.07); Charlie Maistrellis, 600 (1:39); Dan Deschenes, 1,000 (2:59); Bryan Mendez, 2-mile, (10:26) and Deschenes, Maistrellis, Eric Loehle and Frank Tambini in the 4 x 400 relay (3:59).GIRLS TRACKBishop Fenwick 70, Cathedral/Lowell Catholic 16At the Reggie Lewis Center, Becky Mercuro won the 300 (47.2) and the long jump (15-1 1/2); Julia Pierce, 600 (1:53); Arianna Maida, 1, 000 (3:16); Hannah Smith, mile (5:46); Carolyn Claveau, high jump (4-4); Natalie Emerson, high hurdles (10.46) and Maggie Lepley of Lynn, the shot put (28-6). Kaleigh Finigan led the way for the Spartans with three goals. Samantha Callahan, Gabby Crugnale and Alison Butler (two goals) took care of the rest.
