The Tech girls basketball team put one in the win column, defeating Fellowship, 33-10, Tuesday at Tech.
Ligia Castro, in her first start, had 10 points for the Tigers. Mimi Gonzalez had nine points; Lila Nieves, six points and Tori Park, five points. Tech led 17-7 at the half and then held Fellowship to only three second-half points.
SWIMMING
Beverly 102, English 82
At Lynn Tech, the Bulldogs (2-3) had a couple of winning performances in the loss. Matt Bruno won the 50 free (27.01) and the 100 free (1:02.63) and Matt Demirs, diving (182.77 points). Also swimming well were second-place finishers Mike Bruno, 200 free (2:01.9) and 500 free (5:31.13); Jesse Freeman, 100 back (1:11.75); Marina Broufas, 100 breast (1:25.33) and Frances Serwicki, 100 fly (1:21.45). Brandie Holland took second in diving (180.74).
Beverly (3-0-1) had two swimmers with four firsts. Sarah Welch won the 200 free (2:01.47) and 500 free (5:29.01). She was also on the winning 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay, as was Emily Walsh. Walsh also won the 200 IM (2:27.26) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.32).
Caitlyn Donoghue won the 100 breast (1:21.09) and she was on the winning 200 free relay and the 200 medley relays. Rachel Grant was on the winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay and she won the 100 fly (1:06.64).
Marblehead 103, Classical 77
At the Lynch Van Otterloo YMCA, the Magicians (5-0, 4-0 Northeastern Conference) got a boost from double winner Sarah Daher, who took first in the 200 free (2:02.39) and the 100 breast (1:10.38); Harrison Rodts, the 200 IM (2:10.92) and the 100 free (53.7) and Charlie Seltzer, 500 free (5:32.97).
The Rams (1-4) won the 200 free relay (1:55.27) with the team of Brian Nelson, Luigi Genao, Wes Thompson and Frankie Pearson. Classical also had second place finishes from Nelson in the 200 IM and 100 breast (personal best 1:12.79), Mac St. Ives, 50 free and Pearson, 100 fly.
Danvers 57, Swampscott 42
At Danvers, the Big Blue (1-4) had a double winner in Samantha Rogers, first in the 500 free (6:25) and the 100 breast (1:24.05). Emily Guo took second and third in the 200 IM and 100 fly, respectively, and India Shultz finished fourth and third in the 200 IM and 100 breast, respectively.
Peabody 95, Salem 80
At the Torigian Family Center, Alex Guay, Patrick Jwansowski, Zack Melville and Alex Strakosha combined for the Tanners (3-0-1) to win the 200 medley relay (1:56.97) and the 200 free relay (1:45.43).
Guay also won the 50 free; Strakosha, the 100 fly (1:00.49) and the 100 breast (1:07.73) and Christine Shea the 500 free (6:01.28). John Domenico qualified for the Northeastern Conference meet in the 500 free. Divers Paige Hayward and Corey Pierce went one-two in the meet.
BOYS TRACK
Revere 47, Beverly 34
At Beverly, the Patriots (4-0) had wins from Tarik Maddrey in the high jump (5-11); Karim Sahila, 50-yard hurdles (6.9); Robert Rose, 300 meters (38.7); Zack Primo, 600 meters (1:31.8) and Rawlings Toglan, 1,000 (2:48.2).
Beverly had firsts from Harry Brown, shot put (46-6 1/4); Kenny Pierce, 50-yard dash (5.8); Alex Greco, mile (4:48.1); and Campbell Wood, 2-mile (10:57).
GIRLS TRACK
Beverly 69, Revere 12
At Beverly, the Panthers (4-0) dominated this one, taking first in all but one event. The Beverly winners were Kristen O’Connor, high jump (5-0) and the 50-yard hurdles (7.6); Nicole Kirsch, shot put (30-8); Caitlin Harty, 300 meters (45.7); Madison Shropshire, 600 meters (1:45.8); Alison Collins, 1,000 (3:25.2); Nicole Demars, mile (5:27.6) and Maeve Monahan, 2-mile (12:42.2). Comfort Toglan was the lone Revere (2-2) winner, taking first in the 50-yard dash (6.8).
GYMNASTICS
Malden 124.6, Bishop Fenwick 117.9
At the Salemwood School in Malden, the Crusaders (1-1) came up short, but had strong performances from Marissa Moschella, who was first on floor (8.3) and Kristen Kilcommons, who was second on beam (8.1) and third on floor with a 7.9. Erin Horgan was second on vaulting (8.3) and third on bars (8.2).
