Going up against an Archbishop Williams team with a strong inside presence, the St. Mary’s girls basketball team lost to the Bishops, 59-40, at Emmanuel College on Saturday.”They have tremendous talent inside and at the guard position,” Spartans coach Jeff Newhall said. “I think we came out a little bit tentative.”The Bishops have a trio of post players who all have their college plans set: Alana Gilmer, who has received a full scholarship to UMass-Amherst; 6-3 Jaylen Williams, who will attend Penn State; and 6-2 Olivia Conrad, who has received a full scholarship to Southern New Hampshire.Both teams came in undefeated in the Catholic Central League.
