The Tech girls basketball game put it all together Friday against PMA and the result was a 41-30 win at Methuen.
“I would say by far this was our best performance this year,” coach Kevin McDormand said. “We got out ahead of them.”
Seven players got into the scoring act for the Tigers. Hattie Watkins led the way with 18 points, but Tori Park, with eight points, was key in breaking down PMA’s press down the stretch. The Tigers are 4-7.
English 78, Saugus 34
At English, the Sachems couldn’t contain an explosive Bulldog. offense that had four players in double figures. Diondra Woumn led the way with 19 pionts. Deidra Newson had 14 points and Catherine Stinson and Mikayla Everette, 13 and 12, respectively. Newson also had 14 rebounds, six assists and six steals and Woumn had six steals.
English is 10-2, 8-1 in the Northeastern Conference. The Bulldogs have won seven straight games.
Peabody 56, Danvers 34
At Peabody, the Tanners put the hammer down in the third quarter, holding Danvers to only two points after having played catch up for the first two quarters. Coutney Bua led the way with 16 points and point guard Sara Hosman helped out with 11. Amanda Matthews had seven points and controlled the glass with 10 boards. Peabody trailed 21-16 at the half.
Kasey Sherry had 13 points for Danvers, but Peabody coach Jane Heil wasn’t complaining considering Sherry torched the Tanners for 30 points last season.
KIPP 56, Phoenix 4
At Lynn, the Panthers jumped out to a 27-2 lead by the half and never looked back. Anaidys Uribe had a career-high 17 points for the Lynn team. Serena High had 11 points and Alex Huffman, seven. Jassy Kim had a strong game off the bench with four points and Mariangeliz Calderon chipped in with five.
KIPP, (7-0, 5-0 MCSAO) plays Pioneer next.
Winthrop 44, Salem 40
At Salem, the Vikings (9-2, 7-2 Northeastern Conference) held off a persistent Salem team. Kristen Siscamanis had 15 points and Temisan Meggison had 11.
“It was a close game throughout, It was a nailbiter,” Winthrop coach Ignacio Oyola said. “I thought we rebounded well. Overall I was happy with the team.
Rachel Zipper had 10 points for the Witches.
Revere 47, Marblehead 23
At Revere, the Patriots’ big guns Gena Restiano and Caitlin Caramello had it going and that was enough to get the job done. Caramello had 17 points and a robust 23 rebounds. Restiano had 14 points.
“We came out with our press and that seemed to slow down their offense,” Revere coach Katelyn Leonard said. “We got some quick turnovers and scored off the. Our ball movement on offense was the best it’s been all year. We got some great looks and we capitalized.”
McKenna Barrett had six points for Marblehead.
Williams 74, Fenwick, 45
At Williams, Chandler Wilder led the Crusaders with 17 points, with Sydney Brennan chipping in with 12.
Jaylen Williams had 14 for the Bishops.
