The Marblehead High girls track team clinched the Northeastern Conference Small title Wednesday with a 63 1/2-22 1/2 win over Gloucester at Gloucester. This was the Magicians’ third title in the last four years.”This is probably the most balanced team we have had since I have been here,” Marblehead coach Mike Toomey said. “We have some pretty tough girls and they go out and compete each week. We ask a lot of our girls and they definitely earned this title with a lot of hard work.”Marblehead took eight of 10 events, led by Lily Cummins in the high jump (5-0); Olivia Vener in the 50-yard hurdles (7.8); Mimi Goetz, 50-yard dash (6.4); Kathleen Huber, 600 meters (1:51.5); Paige Ferrucci, 1,000 (3:20.9); Anna Barrell, mile (5:36.8) and Janaya Randall, 2-mile (12:37.1). Marblehead also won the 4 x 440 relay with Carlyn McGrath, Vener, Corinne Mayle and Huber.
