NAHANT – On the morning of last Nov. 10, Greg Gallo of Lynn awoke to discover his van – which that night was housing his beloved $1,200 custom Fender guitar – was not outside his Lover?s Leap Avenue home.Brother Tony Gallo said police found the van a few weeks later in Brockton, but the two musician brothers had no such luck with the Fender or the other guitars and audio equipment. Immediately they began planning a fundraiser to raise money for new equipment for Greg Gallo. The fundraiser is scheduled for tonight at 8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Nahant, but Greg Gallo said the support from the musical community was instant. “Right away, as soon as I put out the email, people were asking ?How can I help, is there anything I can do??” he said. “They?ve been continuing to come out since Nov. 10. People want to help, and it?s not just musicians, it?s everybody.”Greg Gallo said the fundraiser will be a reflection of that community, with a relaxed atmosphere and bands comprised of longtime friends. Tickets for the fundraiser are $10 at the door, and there will be raffles with prizes like a one-night stay at a Marriot Hotel, and lots of music-related prizes. If You Go? The Greg Gallo Benefit to replace his stolen gear is tonight, Friday, Jan. 25, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Knights OfColumbus at 17 Relay Yard in Nahant.
