After fighting its way back from a halftime deficit, English still needed an overtime period to claim a thrilling win over Salem, 70-65, on Tuesday night. Diondra Woumn led all scorers with 32 points, none more important than the four she scored in overtime to help the Bulldogs seal the win.”Salem came out and played well,” said English coach Fred Hogan. “We are allowing an average of 33 points a game and they scored 65 on us.”English faced a 12-point deficit coming out of halftime, but was able to erase the Salem lead, mostly behind Catherine Stinson. Stinson scored 12 of her 22 points in the third to help English gain the lead heading into the fourth quarter.Not to be outdone, Salem’s Brianna Rodriguez hit a three-point shot as time expired to send the game into overtime. With 30 seconds remaining in the game, Classical held on to a two-point lead and braced for a Revere possession. On the ensuing possession for the Patriots, Gena Restiano made a brilliant pass to Caramello, who scored but was fouled. Caramello hit her free throw to give Revere the lead.
