SWAMPSCOTT – After a conference call to with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, Swampscott Department of Public Works Director Gino Cresta confirmed that if coastal flooding becomes serious in the Puritan Road area around 10 a.m. Saturday, residents will be evacuated to the Senior Center.?I don’t think it’s going to be that serious,” said Cresta. Though the Senior Center will be waiting if needed, Cresta said MEMA was mostly concerned with flooding in Scituate and Winthrop.Cresta said Puritan Road will be most affected because of the lower seawall and two access areas to the beach. He said residents in the Humphrey Street area should be safe from flooding because they are on the other side of the street.View radar of the stormLatest snowfallCresta said there will be no boarded-up windows and sand bags in Swampscott. “We’re not like that here,” he said. “Everyone is pretty much farther away or protected with the seawall.”Find out how local municipalities are preparing for the storm
