SAUGUS – The Target in Saugus donated four Dell laptops to the Saugus Police Department recently and Assistant Chief Ronald Giorgetti said the computers will be a “substantial savings” for the town.”We estimate the cost of a laptop similar to what we were provided from $800 to $1,000 a laptop,” said Giorgetti. “This will allow our detectives to take them out to the field and have real time communication and more access to data to communicate with our service here.”Tinere Jackson, the executive team leader in the Saugus Target’s Assets Protection Department, said she was interested in donating the laptops because Target is always looking for ways to support law enforcement.”This is something we do all the time,” she said. “It’s an ongoing program. You have to request. It doesn’t mean you’ll always get it but we’ll try our hardest to make them available. Every target is able to do it.”Jackson said Target has been supporting local public safety agencies since 1990.”Building a strong partnership with them is very important and creates a very ‘come together’ kind of community feel,” she said. “We call it Target in blue. We’re always there to support them and strengthen our neighborhoods across the country.”Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
