Roundup: Swampscott boys hockey defeats Salem

Defenseman Trevor Massey had two goals and one assist in his first game back from a leg injury as the Swampscott boys hockey team defeated Salem, 6-1, at Salem State on Monday.Fellow defenseman Chris Carman also contributed, with three assists, while first-line forward Noah Maercklein scored twice and had an assist.Griffin Hunt and Joe Silva also scored for Swampscott (12-4). Nunzio Morretti, Chris Dandreo and Cory Carmody all had single helpers.Sam Petrie scored the lone goal for Salem.Big Blue goalie Tristan Bradley made 12 saves. His counterpart, Salem netminder Brett Harring, stopped 38 shots.”He’s a tough kid, a real good goalie,” Big Blue coach Gino Faia said of Harring.M’head 7, Lynn Jets 1At Salem State, Matt Koopman led Marblehead with two goals and an assist. Other goal-scorers for Marblehead were: Liam Gillis (1 goal, 1 assist); Tripp Franzese (1 goal, 1 assist); Tom Koopman (1 goal, 1 assist); Cam Rowe (1 goal, 1 assist); and Aaron DeAngelo. Harrison Young was in net for Marblehead.Mark Brazell scored a second-period goal for the Jets (7-8-1).
