SWAMPSCOTT – The Chipotle Mexican Grill in Vinnin Square was granted their license to serve beer in a Board of Selectmen meeting Wednesday night, but will not be selling margaritas like other stores in the chain.?It?s not a bar, per se,” said Scannell of the 44-seat restaurant. “You can?t just sit and have a drink.”In addition to the restriction of beer, customers will also be restricted to one beverage per meal that must be kept inside the restaurant, not on the outdoor patio, said Attorney Stephanie Scannell, who represented Store Manager Giacomo Cantos for the Paradise Road-based eatery in their proposal for a liquor license.Scannell added that employees working in the open kitchen will be charged with monitoring customers in their consumption of the beverage to ensure the person drinking it is the person who purchased it. If a customer wants another beer, they must first purchase more food.Town Administrator Thomas Younger said the restaurant had no outstanding fees, and so after ensuring that the restaurant?s patio would not be included, the selectmen unanimously approved the license.Kait Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
