SWAMPSCOTT – Swampscott is moving on from Principal Layne Millington after he was named Marblehead High School Principal on Wednesday, already forming a search committee for a new high school principal.Superintendent Lynne Celli?s office issued a statement Thursday looking for two community members without children at the high school to take part in a representative search community.School Committee Chairman Larry Beaupre said comments at a meeting last night were “along the lines of ?fairly predictable,? but we wish him the best of success in his new position.”Beaupre continued, “We?re grateful for the work he did in Swampscott, and we?re sorry that he made the decision to move on, but we respect that and we wish him only the best.”Beaupre said there was not much discussed as far as search committees with the School Committee yet because it was more of a superintendent?s job, but he said in the past a committee usually consisted of parents and residents both with children and without children at the high school, plus teachers and administration. “It?s obviously an important position and we will treat the search accordingly,” he said. Those who are interested in the committee should send letters of interest to Kathleen Leonard in the Superintendent?s Office at [email protected] by 3 p.m. on March 8.Should more than two community members express interest in serving on the committee, two names will be drawn by lottery by an unbiased person.Kait Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
