North Shore indoor track student-athletes had strong performances at the New Balance National Scholastic Track & Field meet at the Armory in New York City this past weekend.Swampscott’s Peter Hale won the Emerging Elites 2-mile race in 9:18, just four seconds shy of setting a record.Teammate Rob Seymour had a 49-foot throw in the shot put.The Peabody boys had 11 individuals participate. The team qualified in five events (2 open, 3 relays).The Tanners had one podium medal finisher, junior Drew Fossa in the Emerging Elite 2-mile with a fifth-place time (and personal best) of 9:32.9.Other Peabody finishers were: Chris Cennami, Emerging Elite 60 meters, 7:13, 34th; Christian Cedullo, Emerging Elite 60 meters, 7:34, 56th; Emerging Elite 4×200 relay (Steve Villani, Scotty Myers, Cedullo, Cennami), 1:34.75, 35th; Emerging Elite 1600-meter relay (Villani, Vlasi Duni, Thomas Drover, Ben Braz), 3:47.59, 28th; and Emerging Elite 55-meter shuttle hurdles relay (Cedullo, Justin Butler, Dave Tramonte, Alex Bunal), 34.2, 22nd.For Bishop Fenwick, in the Emerging Elite girls 20-lb. weight throw, senior Carolyn Claveau had a toss of 37-1.75 for 19th place; and senior captain Maggie Lepley of Lynn threw 38-11.75 for 12th place.In the national championship 25-lb. weight throw, senior captain Patrick Corcoran had a toss of 59-9.75 for 23rd place.Revere, Marblehead, Peabody, Beverly and Swampscott all represented the Northeastern Conference.
