SWAMPSCOTT – Representatives for the housing development project Atlantic Crossing calmed some nerves at a Planning Board meeting Monday night when they reported there would be no blasting during construction. In the first public appearance since zoning was approved for construction of 14 single-family homes set for the former Temple Israel site, Project Manager Bill Luster gave an update of the project to a full audience of neighborhood residents at the senior center, taking questions and listening to concerns relating to noise, flooding and traffic issues for the project.Luster said that four of the proposed houses were already sold. “The response on the market is amazing,” he said.Luster said as soon as the project receives final approval from the Planning Board, they would begin demolishing the temple building and would then build the site?s 485-foot, one-way road before moving on to the 14 homes. He estimated that it would take 120 to 150 days to build each of the homes, leading to what the developers are hoping is a two-year construction period. The Planning Board is still within the 45-day comment period to hear remarks on the project from the other town boards, said board vice chair Angela Ippolito. Luster said he and fellow development representatives would reappear for the board at their next meeting April 8 for a presentation.Kait Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
