Lynn dentist found guilty of groping sedated girl

PEABODY – A Peabody District Court jury found an oral surgeon who practiced in Lynn guilty of fondling the breast of a 16-year-old patient who was under sedation for a dental procedure in 2010.Dr. George Hatzigiannis, 41, of Boxford, was found guilty of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 years, according to an announcement from the office of Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.Judge Matthew Nestor sentenced Hatzigiannis to 2 ? years in the House of Correction with one year to be served and the balanced suspended for 2 ? years, according to the announcement.The Board of Dentistry secured a voluntary agreement with Hatzigiannis not to practice dentistry following his arraignment.Reporter Cyrus Moulton is working on the story and will have a full report in Thursday’s edition of The Daily Item.Store locations
