LYNN – A Lynn man and a Boston man are in jail on heroin and cocaine trafficking charges after police recovered more than half-a-pound of heroin in two coordinated busts, according to records from Lynn District Court.Juan Alexis Delarosa, 30, of 36 Timson St., #1, Lynn, was arrested and charged with possession to distribute a class A drug (heroin), possession to distribute a class B drug (cocaine), trafficking a class A drug and trafficking a class B drug on Thursday at 11 a.m.Juan Carlos Canuelas-Nieves, 35, of 21 Collins St., #1, Hyde Park, was arrested and charged with trafficking a class A drug and trafficking a class B drug on Thursday at 10:42 a.m.Lynn District Court Judge James Wexler ordered Delarosa held on $35,000 cash bail while Canuelas-Nieves was held on $25,000 cash bail at their arraignment Friday.According to police reports, detectives from the Lynn, Saugus and Revere police departments along with the Drug Enforcement Administration set up surveillance outside a Beacon Hill Avenue address to serve a search warrant for Delarosa.When Delarosa left the address officers approached him with their badges out and the report states Delarosa fled down Beacon Hill Avenue. The report states Delarosa reached into his vest pocket and threw a white napkin over a fence as he ran.Police recovered the napkin which the report states contained “17 small, clear, plastic twists of tan powder substance suspected to be, based on my knowledge, experience and training, heroin” along with six clear plastic twists “of white powder suspected to be cocaine.”The report states Delarosa possessed 155 grams of heroin and 40 grams of cocaine. Police recovered $5,377 from the apartment, said the report.While officers were conducting surveillance on Delarosa, police were set up about a mile away at Fosdick Terrace. Officers knocked on the door and the report states a male inside told police to “hold on.” After several minutes police knocked on the door again and identified themselves as police. A man, later identified as Canuelas-Nieves, answered the door and the report stated he told police “I was instructed by ‘Raffi’ to call him prior to answering the door whenever somebody knocks.”The report states a Rafael Delarosa was the target of another warrant out of Revere.The report states Canuelas-Nieves agreed to let officers search the apartment. Officers found “a hide” behind the kitchen kickboard and the report states police found the following items: three large plastic bags containing 150 grams of suspected heroin, two plastic bags of a suspected additive used to dilute a drug, one plastic spice container containing 31 twists (15 grams) of suspected cocaine, another plastic spice container containing 28 twists (40 grams) of suspected cocaine, one digital scale, a stainless steel “finger” press, “two metal plates used for kilo press,” a box of baggies and a roll of baggies.Both men were sent to Middleton Jail and are due back in court on April 16.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
