LYNN — A Boston Police detective told Lynn officers who arrested him Friday morning for offering to pay for sex that he was “on the job,” according to a police report filed in Lynn District Court.
Lysander Wright, 48, pleaded not guilty to the charge in court Friday along with 15 other men arrested late Thursday night and early Friday morning near Pinkham and Union streets.
Wright, 18 Lander St., Lynn, approached Lynn Officer Kelly Aylward at 12:14 a.m. Friday as she worked as a “decoy” and offered $20 for a sex act, stated the report. When other officers approached Wright’s car, he told them, “If she said I offered her $20 ”¦ she’s lying.” He then told police, “I’m on the job.”
Lynn District Court Judge James LaMothe released Wright on personal recognizance at his arraignment Friday.
During the arrests of Wright and the other men, Aylward wore a “kel” – a device allowing police officers to listen into her conversations with anyone who approached her.
Police removed a .40-caliber Glock handgun from Wright, arrested him and charged him with offering to pay for sex. In a report filed in court, Officer Christopher Hagerty wrote that “within the past several months he has received information from a known prostitute alleging that a black police officer has picked her up in the downtown area, drove to a location off Chatham Street, where she performed sex on him and she was told to get out of the car before he arrested her.”
The report states that even though Wright agreed to pay $20 for the sex act, he only had $7 on him when he was booked.
Police records listed the other men arrested Thursday and Friday and charged with offering to pay for sex as:
Melfi Berduo, 36, of 18 Lowell St. #2; Wilmer Ramirez, 23, of 55 Laighton St., #2; David Dixon, 54, of 33 Lincoln St., #35; Roger Clark, 36, of 558 Chestnut St., #2; Luis Shoc, 27, of 110 Hamilton Ave.; Esvin Mendez, 28, of 155 Allen Ave., #2; Ismael Chavez, 21, of Brockton; Noorul Dawood, 19, of 2 Kingsley Terrace; Olumide Omonijo, 55, of 48 Friend St. #3; Clifton Townsend, 22, of Boston; Armando Lopez, 21, of 106 Essex St.; Isaa Mohammed, 50, of 27 Union St., #21; Kirk Dow, 19, of 110 Farrell Road and Rafael Perez, 50, of 14 Lander St.
Boston Police Officer Neva Coakley said Wright has been on the department since 1989 and was placed Friday on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
Wright is due back in Lynn District Court on May 10.
