SWAMPSCOTT – Swampscott will be the latest location for the movie about the 1970s FBI sting operation that has been filming in Massachusetts for the last month when production takes over Humphrey Street on Monday. The untitled movie, directed by Oscar-winning director David O. Russell and starring top actors Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Amy Adams, will be shooting a scene at Anthony’s Pier 4 Cafe on 152 Humphrey St. on Monday morning from about 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., said Department of Public Works Director Gino Cresta.View photos of the movie’s filming in LynnAccording to Cresta, the road will not be closed off during the shoot because it will mostly be filmed inside the restaurant, but will stop for a few minutes during one part of the day. “They may end up blocking it off for a few quick minutes and then let traffic go by,” said Cresta. He added there will be police details at the corner of Redington Street and Humphrey Street, and at the corner of Blaney Street and Humphrey Street during the day.During the time of the shoot, the production’s vehicles and trailers will be parked in the gravel parking lot at Phillips Park, said Cresta. When asked if the action might draw a Grown Ups 2-like crowd at the park, Cresta said he was “led to believe” during a meeting with production manager Josh Yeoman that most of the lead actors would not be in the scene at the restaurant.Cresta added that he didn’t think there would be much of a draw for star-gazing youths to camp out at the park because Lawrence, of “The Hunger Games” fame, would not be in the scene and most children would be in school during the shoot.A spokesperson for White Dog Productions, who declined to give her name and whose company is involved in producing the film, said out of interest for the period film, the closed set wouldn’t be viewer-friendly. “Where we are filming, there won’t be any space for public viewing or anything like that,” she said. “They will be kept so far back they won’t be able to see anything.”Cresta said during the meeting with the production managers and Town Administrator Thomas Younger, Town Accountant Dave Castellarin, and the town’s police and fire chiefs, there was “some sort of deal” made to compensate Swampscott for the production. “I don’t think it’s a significant amount but Dave broke the deal and got a few dollars from them,” he said.Cresta said the production was planning a half-day shoot in Swampscott before moving over to Christie’s Restaurant in Lynn by the Nahant Rotary. This is the second time the movie has been filmed in Lynn, the first being on Friday, March 22 on Exchange Street and at a used car dealership on the Lynnway.Kait Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
