The Saugus High boys track team defeated Beverly, 74-57, Wednesday at Saugus.Ryan Clark won the 200 meters (23.7) and Kevin Powers, the 800 meters (2:05) for the Sachems and in the process, qualified for states. Saugus (2-0) also had wins from Atticus Andruchow, high jump (5-6) and Derek Joyal, javelin (127-9).Marblehead 99, English 27At Manning Field, quadruple winner Conrad Rousseau led Marblehead (2-0), taking the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.7), 110 hurdles (17.3), long jump (19-11) and triple jump (37-9). Other Marblehead winners were: Nate Fowler, mile (4:54); Chris Wiley, 100 meters (11.8) and Chris Brady, 400 meters (54.0). For English (0-2), Peter Matu took the 800 meters (2:10) and Joshua Manzanillo took the 200 meters (24.4).Xaverian 74, St. John’s 62At Xaverian, the Eagles (0-1) took the top two spots in three events (2-mile, shot put and discus). Tom O’Shea (10:10.1) won the 2-mile with Nick Fecteau (10:10.7) taking second. Evan Dombrowski (51-8) won the shot put and David Roy took second. Roy won the discus (145-1) and Dombrowski finished second (135-1).GIRLS TRACKBeverly 115, Saugus 21At Saugus, the Sachems had one winner on the day in Rachel Donovan, 100 meters (13.4). Donovan also placed third in the triple jump (30-3). Norma Waggett placed second in the high jump (4-8).In other girls track, Marblehead defeated English 117-19 behind triple winner Carlyn McGrath, who took the 400 hurdles, 200 and long jump. Mary Leggett won the discus and javelin; Anna Barrell, 2-mile; Paige Ferrucci, 800; Rebecca Unterborn, 400; Steph Lundgren, 100 hurdles; Julie Lothrop, shot put; Monica Thorne, triple jump and Lily Cummings, high jump.
