SAUGUS – Saugus Police arrested a Woburn man Thursday afternoon after he allegedly broke into a house on Essex Street, according to Assistant Chief Ronald Giorgetti.Giorgetti said officers arrested Robert Adams, 30, of 974 Main St., Woburn at 12:20 p.m. Thursday and charged him with breaking and entering in the daytime and malicious destruction of property.Giorgetti said Adams was “observed breaking into” a home on Essex Street and a resident at the home called police?He fled on foot and was apprehended from officers from this department,” said Giorgetti. “They set up a perimeter and were able to locate Mr. Adams and take him into custody.”Giorgetti said police are investigating to see if Adams can be tied to a “rash” of break-ins in the area.According to the Saugus Police log, officers have responded to four break-ins since last Friday. The log states there was a break-in on Lincoln Avenue at 2 p.m. last Friday followed by a break-in attempt on School Street at 4:53 p.m.Officers responded to a break-in on Spencer Avenue at 7:52 p.m. on Tuesday and another on Ballard Street Wednesday night.Adams is to be arraigned today in Lynn District Court.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
