SWAMPSCOTT — A candlelight vigil to remember the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings will start tonight at 7 in front of a salon on Humphrey Street.
Toni Torelli of Incognito Revealed Salon, 60 Humphrey St. said Monday afternoon she had 250 candles ready for the vigil, which participants can buy for $1 to donate to the One Boston Fundm, which supports bombing victims.
Torelli said that around dusk the group will make its way across the street from the salon at 60 Humphrey St. to the promenade at King’s Beach to say a prayer or share a thought for the victims and all affected by last Monday’s bombing.
“It’s just a time to pay our respects and move on,” said Torelli. The event started as Torelli’s simple request for her Facebook friends to meet her at the beach with a few candles, but she said word spread quickly through social media.
Torelli said before the event on Monday that she hoped together with the salon’s employees, their North Shore clients, and everyone who participates would “light up Lynn Shore Drive” with their candlelight.
The event featured $2 “Pray for Boston” wristbands, which a 13 year-old from Marblehead has been selling through his own Facebook page since Friday, also for the One Boston fund to help the marathon’s victims.
The Daily Item will provide coverage of Monday night’s event in Tuesday’s edition.
