“Today’s game was obviously against our rival and the girls came to play and they came to win. They played Marblehead lacrosse,” coach Annie Pugh said.
Kiley Fischer led the attack with three goals and an assist. Five other girls had two goals — Tyler Phillips, Sydney Cayen, Cassie Rodgers, Alli Hanratty and Casey Collins. Meggie Collins had a goal and six assists and Emily Freedland, a goal and an assist.
Pugh has five seniors who plan on playing at the college level, including Meggie Collins (Trinity); Fischer (Babson); Phillips (Skidmore); Rodgers (Colby) and goalie Allie Forman (Bridgewater State).
Pugh said Forman has improved tremendously over the past four years.
“She’s put in the hard work and dedication to be a contender to play in college,” she said, adding that Forman pulls the defense together and gets them working as a cohesive unit.
Marblehead (8-1, 2-0 Northeastern Conference) will play Danvers Saturday (4) at home.
Chloe Dorgan scored for Swampscott. The Big Blue are 1-6 with Beverly at home on Thursday. That game was originally scheduled at Beverly, but it has been changed.
