NAHANT – Voters at Saturday?s Town Meeting may have passed the article to plant beach grass at Short Beach, but Town Administrator Andy Bisignani said the planting won?t take place until the fall.Bisignani said the town will be bringing in a professional to lay out a plan that will determine the best place for the beach grass to be planted to have the best effect on restoring the dunes, and from there will be planted “as soon as possible,” which will turn out to be after the beach season.?We don?t want to disrupt beachgoers,” said Bisignani.Short Beach herbage did receive some hydro-seeding and compost in the last week, taken from the town?s own compost site.In the meantime, other plantings have gone on in parts of town. On Monday, Bisignani was quick to show off the nine cherry blossom trees that were being planted around the back parking lot of Town Hall. The trees were Nahant-grown, according to Bisignani, transplanted from the tree farm behind the Johnson School, and will grow to be 20 feet high.?When they?re in bloom in a couple of years, people will really take notice,” he said.Kait Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
