The Lynnfield baseball team won a marathon 12-inning game over Masconomet Saturday, 3-2, at the high school.The Pioneers got two runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Nick Bruno – whose three innings of scoreless relief earned him the win – and a sacrifice fly by Connor Lordan.Starter Greg Basilesco made that stand up until the fifth, when the Chieftains – coached by former Swampscott mentor T.J. Baril – tied the game.From then until the bottom of the 12th it was scoreless until Jordan Roper led off the 12th with a single. He stole second, and Masco walked Bruno to set up the force. After a walk loaded the bases, Conor Sullivan was hit by a pitch, forcing in the winning run.”It was a great ballgame,” said Lynnfield coach John O’Brien. “Both starters went nine innings, and they both threw strikes. Nothing but strikes. It was a 12-inning game, and it lasted just under three hours.”For us to win, after going through all of that ? it’s a good win for us.”The Pioneers broke the .500 barrier and are now 6-5.St. Mary’s 12, Campbell (NH) 2At Fraser Field, the Spartans got five-plus innings out of sophomore P.J. Hatchouel in his first varsity start.”He did a great job,” said Spartan coach Derek Dana. “He was nervous ? first game ? Fraser Field ? but he did great, and the guys played great behind him.”Hatchouel gave up only two hits and a run, walking four and fanning four. After he gave up a home run to lead off the sixth, Dana brought in Brendan O’Neill to finish up,Scott Betts had a double, triple, and three RBI; Victor Molle was 2-ror-2 with an RBI double; and Justin O’Blenes hit a two-out single that drove in two runs in the fourth inning.St. Mary’s is 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the Catholic Central League.St. John’s 6, Chelmsford 0At Chelmsford, Dustin Hunt gave up only one hit over six innings, striking out nine.Tom Buonopane was 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and an RBI and a run.
