SWAMPSCOTT – At a School Committee meeting Wednesday night, members welcomed newcomers and unanimously elected Rick Kraft as chairman and Ted Delano vice chairman.Marianne Hartmann made both nominations for Kraft and Delano. For Kraft, she said, “I think Rick will bring a calming presence to the School Committee this year.”For Delano, Hartmann said, “Ted is a great communicator. He is a rule-follower as a police officer, and he holds our feet to the fire sometimes, but that is a very good thing to have in a vice chair. I would be honored to have him as our vice chair.”Members also welcomed newly-elected members Carin Marshall and Amy O?Connor and assigned them to subcommittees.Superintendent Lynne Celli introduced newly-hired high school principal Edward Rozmiarek, who signed his contract Friday.Rozmiarek said he had received a lot of support from his former school, Lowell High School, when he announced he took the job in Swampscott. “I can?t tell you how many people have told me Mike Lynch graduated from Swampscott High School,” he said, to laughs from the committee. “I am extremely happy to be here.”Kait Taylor can be reached at [email protected].
