Lynn man accused of rape

LYNN – A Lynn man is in jail after he was accused of rape, according to records from Lynn District Court.Johnny Maria, 40, of 49 Light St., #3, Lynn, was arrested and charged with rape on Thursday at 4:39 p.m.Lynn District Court Judge James Lamothe ordered Maria held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing at his arraignment on Friday.Court records say a woman came into the Lynn Police station Thursday afternoon to report that she was raped by Maria.The woman told police Maria got on top of her and began to laugh, said the report. The report states he then raped her and after the woman was able to free herself, Maria laughed, called her an expletive and left the room.The report states police arrested Maria that same day.He is due back in court on May 17.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
