Tennis: Spartan boys blank Fenwick

The St. Mary’s boys tennis team defeated Bishop Fenwick, 5-0, Friday at GEEAA Field in Lynn.The Spartans has wins from Pat Barceleau at first singles, 6-2, 6-2; Brady Ryan at second singles, 6-0, 6-0; Christian Blaise, third singles, 6-1, 6-2; Noah Camelo-Matt McManus, first doubles, 6-1, 6-2, and John Shea-Patrick Morin-Plante, second doubles, 6-2, 6-2.St. Mary’s is 9-3.Salem 3, English 2At English, the Bulldogs (1-8) had wins from Shivam Patel and Billy You at first doubles, 6-0, 1-6, 6-3, and Thomas Long-Kenny Em, 6-3, 6-1, at second doubles.Peabody 3, Revere 2At Peabody, the Tanners (3-6,) had wins from Mike Warren, first singles, 6-0, 6-3; Alex McDonough-Mike Nicoli, first doubles, 6-1, 6-1, and Ben Small-Shahen Melkonian, 6-1, 6-1.Ipswich 3, Lynnfield 2At Ipswich, James Hook had an impressive showing at first singles for the Pioneers (6-2, 6-1). Luv Karia won at third singles for Lynnfield (7-6, 6-4). Lynnfield is now 4-4.GIRLS TENNISSaugus 3, Danvers 2At Danvers, the Sachems (7-6) pulled out a hard-fought victory with all three wins going to three sets. Emma Turgeon won at second singles, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3; Bianca Rosato, third single, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, and Deanna Velasquez-Julie Bellia, first doubles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.Fenwick 5, St. Mary’s 0At Fenwick, Spartan Annabelle Feliz lost a tough first singles match against Crusader Alisa Graham (4-6, 7-5, 4-6). Christina Hallisey played well at third singles for St. Mary’s (2-6, 5-7). St. Mary’s is now 3-9.Lynnfield 5, Ipswich 0At Lynnfield, the Pioneers had a strong performance throughout their whole lineup.Winners for Lynnfield were: Kelley Nevils, first singles (6-3, 6-1); Ava Grava, second singles (6-4, 6-2); Izzy Figucia, third singles (6-3, 6-2); Danielle Sodden and Emily Shea, first doubles (6-0, 6-2); Logan Colby-Nunziato and Sloan Colby-Nunziato, second doubles (6-3, 6-0). Lynnfield improved its record to 6-1.Peabody 5, Revere 0At Revere, Rachael Gillis dropped the first set at first singles for Peabody, but was able to battle back in a tough three set victory (2-6, 6-1, 6-0). The other Tanner winners were: Winger Ma, second singles (6-2, 6-2); Dany Chhan, third singles (6-0, 6-2); Anna Grimalyak and Kayla Hodas, first doubles (6-2, 6-1); Beverly Ejiofor and Ashley Eddy, second doubles (6-1, 6-1). Peabody is now 9-2.
