Lacrosse: St. Mary’s girls get win

An up and down season gave way to a nice Tuesday victory for St. Mary’s as the Spartans rolled to a 12-9 win over Nashoba at home.The offensive output was paced by Gabby Crugnale, Ashley Gregory, and Leenie Murphy, all of whom recorded a hat trick.”We pretty much controlled the game from the start,” said St. Mary’s coach Al Eaton. “We jumped out and then settled down a bit in the second half.”Also scoring for the Spartans (4-10) were Paige Fielding, Sophya Fuccione, and Eloise Martin. Each scored one goal.BOYS LACROSSESalem 13, Lynn 0At Manning Field, Anthony Baio had a strong game in net for the Shamrocks, who fall to 2-10 with the loss. Lynn trailed 5-0 at the half and although the defense was solid, the Shamrocks struggled offensively.Marblehead 8, Gloucester 7At Gloucester, the Magicians (12-3) had a wakeup call in a tough match with Gloucester (3-12). Marblehead led 5-2 at the half and went up 8-3, but the Fishermen fought their way back into the game.Contributors included Ian Maag (2 goals); Dan Fader (2 goals, assist) and Trevor Jones, Ben Anderson, Zac Cuzner and Harrison Young, who each had one goal. Cuzner and Young also had an assist. Nathan Maselek (8 saves) was in net.
