Saugus senior pitcher Meghan Molloy tossed a one-hitter Tuesday to lift the Sachems to a 9-0 win over Pope John at Malden.Molloy had a no-hitter heading into the seventh inning when a Pope John player hit a slow roller between third and pitcher to spoil the bid. Molloy had 13 strikeouts and only walked three.”It was a great performance,” Saugus coach Jessica Lucier said. “I’m happy for her.”Molloy had some help at the plate from senior second baseman Tina Vozzella, who went 3-for-5 with two singles, a home run and three RBI.Masconomet 8, English 4At Topsfield, Jolene Mastropietro rattled out three hits in three at-bats and garnered an RBI for the Bulldogs. Marblehead roared back to cut the deficit to one run, but couldn’t complete the comeback, leaving two runs on base in the seventh inning.Beverly’s Ally Pia had three hits and two RBI. One of her hits was a home run. Meaghan McLaughlin went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Rachel Kenney also helped out (2-for-3, RBI triple, 2-run single). Beverly is 6-7.BASEBALLFenwick 4, Everett 3At Peabody, Gianni Esposito drew a walk in the bottom of the sixth to start an interesting sequence leading to the winning run. Tied at three, Esposito stood on first after a free pass, stole second, and reached third on a Joe Levasseur single. Esposito scored when the Crimson Tide pitcher was called for a balk.Earlier in the game, in the third inning, Fenwick scratched out three runs on five consecutive hits.The starting pitcher for Fenwick (13-4) was Tommy Parsons. Parsons pitched six innings, giving up three unearned runs while walking one, striking out four, and scattering four hits.Lynnfield 5, Manchester-Essex 4At Lynnfield, junior Andy Carbone (2-1) had a strong outing for the Pioneers (9-5). He went the distance, allowing four hits, two earned runs, no walks and he struck out one.”He was around the plate all day (60 of 78 pitches for strikes),” Lynnfield coach John O’Brien said. “We made a couple of errors and they capitalized, getting a base hit each time.”Manchester-Essex won the first meeting this season, 6-4, after Lynnfield had taken a 4-1 lead.Lynnfield got a run in the bottom of the first when Nick Bruno hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring Traverse Briana. The Pioneers added three in the bottom of the third with Alex Vittim (3 hits) reaching on a hit and Tyler Palumbo and Briana walking to load the bases. Shortstop Jordan Roper had a two-run double to put Lynnfield up 3-1. Bruno’s RBI single made it 4-1.Manchester-Essex got two back in the fifth and Lynnfield got one in the fifth on an RBI single by A.J. Gallo. M-E got two more in the seventh before Carbone shut the door with a man on base.CCSC 11, KALC 10At Fraser Field, KALC is 2-3 overall in MCSAO league play. Eric Jimenez had a 2-RBI double to send the game into extra innings. He also pitched a few innings too.
