Before this season, the Fenwick boys lacrosse team had never experienced postseason play in school history. In 2013, that came to an end.Fenwick defeated St. Mary’s on the Spartans’ senior night, 15-7, at Manning Field Wednesday. Fenwick qualified for the state tournament.”This has been a long time coming for this program,” said Fenwick coach Leo Shidler. “This is a great core of guys, and it is nice to see them accomplish this goal.”It did not come easy for Fenwick (10-8), as the game was tied 6-6 at the half.”We really won the first half,” said St. Mary’s coach Shawn Anderson. “We played really well for a long time; unfortunately, we just ran out of gas.”The Crusaders made a few adjustments in the second half, which paid dividends. The Crusaders outscored the Spartans 9-1 in the second half. Leading the way for Fenwick was the trio of Troy Reinold (4 goals, 6 assists), Kyle Russell (3 goals, 3 assists) and Aidan Moulton (4 goals). For St. Mary’s (4-13), Cam Grenham led the way with four goals. Kevin Dusablon scored his first-ever varsity goal for the Spartans. Senior goalie Kyle Torosian had a strong performance (14 saves).Arlington Catholic 8, Swampscott 5At Arlington Catholic, the Big Blue (4-11) saw four different players score: Kevin Marescalchi (2 goals); and Josh Rothwell, Brian Santry and Devin Conroy, one goal each.Chelmsford 17, Peabody 7At Chelmsford, the Tanners got strong efforts from Keifer Heckman (3 goals, 2 assists); Nick Ouellette and Josh Fiore (a goal and an assist each). Celona (3 goals, assist) became Fenwick’s all-time leader in points with 415.”It is an amazing feat Grace accomplished,” said Fenwick coach Karen Guillemette. “I am just lucky to have seen it firsthand day in and day out.”Anna Moulton scored four goals to lead the Crusaders (12-5); Natalie Emerson and Merry Harrington scored two goals each. For St. Mary’s (4-11), Gabby Crugnale scored two goals; Leenie Murphy and Ashley Gregory scored a goal each.Peabody 15, Danvers 14At Peabody, the Tanners trailed 8-6 at the end of the first half. Peabody, though, took an 11-9 lead late in the game. Danvers tied the game 12-12 to force overtime.
