The Classical girls tennis team dropped a hard fought match to rival English earlier in the season. The Rams were able to even the series 1-1 this year with a 4-1 victory at English Friday.”This was a very satisfying win for all of us,” said Classical coach Kathy Ellis. “We were able to get a little revenge today and it is always so nice to beat English.”The Rams dominated in singles, as they took all three individual matches. Winners for Classical (6-9) were: Wendy Matanganyidze, first singles (6-3, 6-1); Ashley Ellis, second singles (6-2, 6-1); Kayla Braswell, third singles (6-1, 6-0) and Monivan Cheth-Messeret Kebede, first doubles (6-4, 6-2). English, had its lone win in second doubles with a team of Stephanie Downs and Kim Nguyen (7-5, 7-6).Swampscott 5, Saugus 0The 13-2 Big Blue swept the match with wins from Vivian Gere at first singles (6-1, 6-1; Veronica Pyatigorskaya at second (6-0, 6-0), Allegra Walker at third (6-0, 6-0), Anya Peterson-Jessica Zolott at first doubles (6-3, 6-2) and Michelle Schnayder-Natalyia Andrushchenko at second (6-0, 6-1).Gere and Pyatigorskaya are 16-0.Peabody 4, Salem 1At Salem State, Tanner Dany Chhan was once again dominant at third singles (6-0, 6-0), and improved her own personal record at 13-1. The other winners for Peabody were: Rachael Gillis, first singles (6-2, 6-2); Anna Grimalyak and Kayla Hodas, first doubles (6-0, 6-0) and Beverly Ejiofor-Ashley Eddy, second doubles (6-1, 6-1). The rest of the St. Mary’s winners were: Brady Ryan, second singles (6-1, 6-0); Christian Blaise, thirds singles (6-4, 6-3) and John Shea-Patrick Morin-Plante, second doubles (6-0, 6-2). St. Mary’s is now 11-3.Swampscott 3, O’Bryant 2At O’Bryant, Matt Gilberg dominated at third singles for the Big Blue (6-0, 6-1). Swampscott swept at doubles due to O’Bryant not having any doubles teams.
