PEABODY – Lahey Health’s 5K Cancer Walk & Run steps off for the fourth year in Peabody on Saturday, with proceeds to support development of a cancer survivorship program to be used across all Lahey sites, expansion of patient complementary services including Reiki and massage therapy in Burlington and Peabody, and creation of a healing garden in Peabody.The 5K Walk/Run route is just over 3 miles, beginning and ending at Lahey Medical Center, One Essex Center Drive.The walk is on paved surfaces at all times, including paths, parking lots and access road. There are slight rises on either side where the path meets Lowell Street. Other than that, the route is fairly flat with an occasional dip in the pavement. There will be a police detail officer present to help everyone cross safely on Lowell Street. This is not a race, and walkers are not timed.If You Walk Registration at Lahey Medical Center, One Essex Center Drive, will be Saturday from 8-9 a.m.; donation collection 8-10 a.m.; opening ceremony and survivor recognition at 9 a.m.; 9:30 a.m. walk start (free activities from 10-11:30 a.m.); and closing ceremony at 11:15 a.m.
