With a dominant performance, the St. John’s Prep tennis team captured the Division 1 North title by defeating Westford Academy, 5-0, at Woburn Racquet Club on Saturday.”We brought our A game,” Prep coach Mark Metropolis said. “The kids did a great job. Everyone came out and played well.”The Eagles winners were: Chris Toner at first singles, 6-1, 6-1; Dan Cunningham at second singles, 6-1, 6-2; Nico Limacher at third singles, 6-0, 6-1; Ian Wright and Sean Nork at first doubles, 6-3, 6-4; and Alec McNiff and John Shaffer at second doubles, 2-6, 7-5, 10-7.Metropolis said that the Eagles’ win in first doubles “set the tone early,” as Westford had previously ousted the Prep’s first and second doubles teams in the individual tournament.
