Record-setting evening at Lynn Woods

It was a puddle-soaked evening at the Lynn Woods Summer Cross Country Races on Wednesday ? and also a record-setting one.There were 305 finishers in four separate races: short, long, kids and peewee. The 305 finishers is a record for the races, which are in their 44th year.Doug Wilson of Lynn won the short (2.5-mile) Out and Back race, in 16:46; followed by Matt Lamothe of Salem and Shea Reny of Swamoscott, both of whom had times of 17:09. The top female finisher was Andrea Saccardo of Peabody (19:00, 10th).Leading the pack in the long race, the 5.5-mile Handicap Course, was David Long of Beverly, who finished in 34:35. Greg Esbitt of Salem placed second in 35:35 and Paul Young of North Andover finished third in 35:57. The top Lynn finisher was Chris Carmody (37:39) and the top North Shore female finisher (as well as top female finisher overall) was Darlene Foley of Peabody (37:41, 11th).The winner of the Kids Race (1.59 miles) was Luke Chase of Reading (11:21), followed by Finn Lacy of Salem (11:50), Matthew Brown of Nahant (11:52) and Colleen Osbahr of Nahant (13:10). The top Lynn boys and girls finishers took fifth and sixth, respectively: Ryan McBride (13:36) and Katherine Clancy (14:00).The top three finishers of the Peewee Quarter Mile, all Lynners, were Brett O’Brien (1:49), Juan Imul (1:56) and Sophian O’Brien (2:00).Rich Tenorio can be reached at [email protected].
