MBCA all-stars selected

The Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association (MBCA) is hosting the Annual Massachusetts-Connecticut New England Challenge Championship Senior All-Star game Saturday at 11 a.m. at Huskins Field on the campus of Tufts University in Medford.This game features many of the best high school seniors (Class of 2013) in Massachusetts (Eastern, Central and Western Mass.) against Connecticut’s top seniors in a nine-inning game.The Massachusetts team will be coached by Reading High coach Pete Moscariello, an MBCA Hall of Famer, former MBCA President and longtime board member. He is stepping down at the end of this season after 35 baseball seasons and 560 wins for the Rockets. Scott Martin of Stafford HS will skipper the Connecticut All-Stars.The Massachusetts team includes pitchers Tom McDonald (BC High), Andrew Wells (Whittier), Matt Vaitkunas (Auburn), Zach Zona (St. Peter-Marian), Asher Young (Amherst), Matt Beauchemin (Holyoke) and Tyler Lyne (Agawam).The infielders are Drew Foster (Nashoba), Tom Petry (St. John’s-Shrewsbury), Ed Bowler (Hingham) and Dan Connors (Danvers), and the catchers are Matt Rabbito (Chelmsford) and Ian Channey (Bishop Connolly).The outfielders are Tom Landry (BC High), Spencer McCaffrey (D-Y), Tyler Glavin (Bridgewater-Raynham), Alex Toomey (Beverly), Kyle Murphy (Westfield) and Jay Reynolds (Shrewsbury).The Connecticut team features pitchers Matt Blandino (Bristol Central), Michael Concato (Amity), Mike Bonaiutio (Maloney) and Ryan Testani (Shelton). The catchers are James DeNomme (Trumbull) and Joe Zanghi (Foran).The infielders are Aaron Hill (Fitch), Kyle Dube (St. Paul’s), Travis Salois (RHAM), Manny Cruz (Wolcott), Keith Kiebart (Amity) and Brandon Haas (Montviille).The outfielders are Taylor Olmstead (Greenwich), Zac Brown (North Haven), Matt Crispino (NW Catholic), Nick Perrelli (No. Branford), Griffin Garabedian (Notre Dame), Izzy Davilla (Fitch) and Alex Zachary (Fermi).
