LYNN – A judge ordered a city man held on $1,000 cash bail after a woman told police the man forced her behind a building on Silsbee Street and tried to rape her early Wednesday morning. But the defendant said the woman was mad because he didn’t pay her in exchange for oral sex.Keltron McFadden, 22, of 24 Burchstead Place #2, was arrested and charged with assault to rape; and kidnapping; at 4:28 a.m. Wednesday. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf Wednesday in Lynn District Court.Assistant District Attorney Mark Byron told the court the alleged victim told police she asked a tall black man for directions while walking to a friend’s home early Wednesday morning. The alleged victim said the man told her he was walking in the same direction as she and would lead her to the street, Byron said, summarizing from a Lynn Police report. A police cruiser then encountered the two, and gave the woman directions and then drove off, Byron said.Byron said the alleged victim told police the man – who one of the officers in the cruiser identified as McFadden – then forced her behind a building and demanded she perform oral sex and he would give her crack cocaine. The alleged victim told police she refused – telling McFadden she was gay – and was able to escape and go to the police station, Byron reported.Byron said police questioned McFadden and he admitted being with the alleged victim. But McFadden said the woman threatened to tell police he raped her when he told her he only had $10 when she demanded $30 for oral sex, Byron reported. He requested $5,000 cash bail.Public Defender Joann Hnat said McFadden had told her the exact same story he had earlier told police – that the alleged victim threatened to claim rape after a disagreement over money owed for sexual services.Hnat requested McFadden be released on personal recognizance.Judge Ellen Flatley set $1,000 cash bail and ordered McFadden to stay away from the alleged victim.McFadden’s family members declined to comment outside the courtroom.Cyrus Moulton can be reached at [email protected].
