Roundup: Pine Hill defeats Saugus National

Matt Gisonno hit a 2-run homer as the Pine Hill all-stars defeated Saugus National, 9-3, in District 16 baseball action at Wyoma.Kevin Durant played well at second base for Pine Hill. Colin Reddy pitched a complete game.Dan Lilja has turned in stellar work at catcher, shortstop and pitcher during the tournament, manager Pete Dow said, while Dan Gisonno made what Dow called an “unbelievable attempt at a ball in the outfield.”Pine Hill plays Lynnfield on Friday.Peabody White 9, East Lynn 5Emil Rossi started the game for East Lynn and Christian Santos came on in relief. George Siskataris and Julio Cora each went 2-for-4 with two singles, with Cora adding two runs. Rossi hit a 3-run homer. Luke Boisselle and Justin May each made good plays.WLA 8, Revere 4At Wyoma, Lou Vidal started and went five innings for WLA (6 K, 2 BB). Aedan Leydon went 2-for-3 with a single, a double and three RBI. Ethan L’Abbe (1-3) hit a game-tying single and Ramon Ramirez hit a pinch-hit two-run double in the fifth that produced the game-winning runs.Saugus American 2, Winthrop 0At MacArthur Park, Peabody, Dominick Clark hit a two-run homer in the third inning and Saugus got a combined shutout from Matt Grant (5.1 IP, 7 K) and Frankey Sims (who struck out both batters he faced).
