LYNN – Local and state police, fire officials and volunteers searched Lynn Woods Monday for a city man last seen nearly a week ago. But police said the missing person had not been found when the search was suspended due to weather Monday afternoon.”It’s great to see everybody,” said AJ Robinson, the missing person’s brother, around 1 p.m. Monday. The volunteers had taken a break for lunch and to allow K-9 units to have access to the woods. “He was definitely a nature lover, we’re sure he’s in here somewhere.”Police identified the missing person as Joseph Robinson, 33. He was described as a white male with brown hair, brown eyes and a slight birthmark on his forehead, approximately 6-foot 1-inch tall and weighing approximately 230 pounds, according to Lynn Police Lt. Christopher Kelly.A friend reported seeing Joseph Robinson at 4 p.m. one week ago today, carrying a backpack and heading to the woods, according to AJ Robinson. Kelly said police were able to trace the missing man’s cell phone to near the Stone Tower the following day.Approximately 90 people including members of the Lynn Fire and Police departments, State Police and Essex County Sheriff department K-9 units, and friends and family gathered at the Great Woods Road entrance to Lynn Woods at 9 a.m. Monday. Other volunteers and police went into the woods by Route 1 by the Lynnfield/Saugus line.AJ Robinson said the search was organized via social media over the weekend. He said Joseph Robinson had lately seemed in good spirits although he had a history of depression.”We’re just here to support the Robinson family,” said volunteer Kristin Sloan. “It’s a giant turnout with many branches of friends and family ? We’re just here to help.”She described Joseph as a person loved by many.”I’m keeping the water (for volunteers) and prayers flowing,” Ann Robinson, Joseph’s mother, said Monday at Lynn Woods. “The support and love, it’s basically just all we have.”Cyrus Moulton can be reached at [email protected].
