BEVERLY – In an evening of wild situations, the Lynn 13-year-old Babe Ruth team and its Salem/Beverly counterpart played neck-and-neck baseball until monsoon-like conditions forced the game’s postponement. With Lynn up 8-3 in the top of the third, the game was called and the decision made to pick up where things left off tonight. The Lynn offense had just grabbed four runs off Brady McGrath to increase its lead to five with only one out. Before the wild storm reared its ugly head, both starting pitchers had wild starts to their outing in their own rights. Lynn’s Yseal Martinez yielded five runs on three hits (five walks) while Salem/Beverly’s James Reynolds went two innings, allowing four runs on three hits, while walking three. The long delay will allow both teams to recharge their batteries and settle down as things are certainly not over.
