On a hot and humid day, runners still came out to Lynn Woods for the latest installment of the weekly summer cross country races on Wednesday.There were four races: short, long, kids and peewee.The short race was a 2.3-mile Out and Back course. Steven Trainor of Salem won in 15:43, followed by Jack Simpson of Lynn (16:15) and Shea Reny of Swampscott (16:17). Sarah Bitterman and Emma McQuirk, both of Marblehead, were the top female finishers, in 16:29 (sixth) and 17:28 (seventh), respectively.The long race was a Tour de Lynn Woods course. Chris Smith of Woburn won in 34:29, followed closely by Mark Dawson of Peabody (34:32) and Caleb Evanter of Marblehead (34:35). The top female finisher was Katia Bertoldi of Somerville (39:31, 13th place).Top finishers in the Kids Race (1.59 miles) were Liam Foley of Salem (13:01), and Katie and Sally Reinwald of Beverly (13:41 and 13:46, respectively). Katherine Clancy of Lynn finished fourth (13:53).Three young runners participated in the Peewee Quarter Mile, all from Lynn and all finishing within seconds of each other: Juan Imul (0:56), Francisco Quinillos (0:58) and Albert Imul (1:00).Rich Tenorio can be reached at [email protected].
