OLD ORCHARD BEACH – The North Shore Navigators saw a three-game winning streak come to an end when a walk-off double from Matt Pagano brought home the winning run for the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide in a 3-2 victory at The Ball Park Monday.With the loss, the Navigators fall to 18-18 on the season while the Raging Tide improve to 17-21Pagano got on base two times in the game for the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide. He also drove in one runner. He doubled in the ninth inning.The Navs got both of their runs in the fourth innings. The first run came on a sacrifice fly by Blaise Lezynski which scored Kyle Devin (Lynn Classical) to tie the game at one. The Navigators took a 2-1 lead later in the inning when Eddie Reese (Wooster) singled to bring home John Hennessey (Boston College).The Raging Tide tied the game in the next inning before walking off with the victory in the ninth.The North Shore Navigators lineup had no answer for Nick Whittaker. The North Shore Navigators managed just three hits off of Whittaker, who allowed two earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his five innings of work.Tyler Pogmore got the win, running his season record to 2-2. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered no hits.The loss comes on the same day that the FCBL all-star roster was announced. The final roster spot for the FCBL all-star game is up for grabs and Navigators’ relief pitcher Ryan Grant (Wheaton) has the opportunity to claim it. Grant will need to win the fan vote in order to get the roster spot. Grant, a veteran of Fraser Field, is looking to join teammates Devin Carter (Pepperdine), Derek Dubois (Clark), and Tim Hendricks (Benedictine) on the all-star roster as part of the Massachusetts team that will square off against the all-stars from other teams in the league that are located around New England. The all-star game will take place this Thursday (7).This season Grant has been an anchor of the Navigator bullpen. He is 1-1 2.87 ERA in 11 appearances for the Navigators. In 15.2 innings, Grant has only surrendered five runs while striking out twice as many batters as he walked, and recording two saves. Opponents are only hitting a mere .233 against Grant so far this seasonDevin Carter, a sophomore, has been on a tear for the Navigators, hitting .313 with 14 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, and 10 RBIs. Carter has also stolen 8 bases. Carter has been on fire as of the last week as he is hitting .385 with a slugging percentage of .423 including four runs scored and three RBIs.Derek Dubois, a senior, has been an ace for the Navigators so far this season. He is 3-2 with a 2.34 ERA is five starts. In his seven appearances he has pitched 30.2 innings, striking out 27 and only walking 11. His season ERA is 2.34. Dubois has kept opposing batters to a .250 batting average.Tim Hendricks, a junior, is no stranger to Fraser Field. A veteran Navigator and fan favorite, Hendricks is hitting .346 with 14 runs scored, four doubles, one homerun, and 16 RBIs. Hendricks has also added nine stolen bases. In the past week, Hendricks is hitting .364 with a slugging percentage of .485. During this time frame, Hendricks has also scored seven runs while driving in eight.The Navigators return home to Fraser Field tomorrow as they play host to the Brockton Rox. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
