LYNN – A Saugus man agreed to be held without bail pending a hearing after police said a woman reported the man beat, strangled, raped and “tortured” her after she said she wanted to break up.”As [the alleged victim] was screaming, [the defendant] was telling her to ?shut the [expletive] up’ and ?you’re lucky that is all I did to you,'” Saugus Police Officer Gary S. Sacco wrote in a report.Gregory C. Saunders II, of 9 Nirvana Drive #2B, Saugus, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery, attempted murder, and aggravated rape, on Saturday. He was arraigned on the charges in Lynn District Court Monday and a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf.Attorneys did not discuss the details of the case in open court. Judge Allen Swan read an affidavit by the alleged victim and granted her a restraining order against Saunders. Assistant District Attorney Erin Bellavia and court-appointed defense attorney Patrick Callahan told the judge the defendant had stipulated to probable cause for a dangerousness hearing to be held.Police reported a woman walked into the Saugus Police station Saturday and requested an emergency restraining order.Police said the woman wrote in a statement that she and Saunders had returned from a concert and they began to argue about Saunders’ behavior that evening, according to the police report.Saunders allegedly became enraged and began assaulting the alleged victim and pushing her upstairs. The woman told police she told Saunders she wanted to break up with him, then Saunders threw her to the floor and put his foot on her neck. The alleged victim said she couldn’t breathe and lost consciousness until she woke herself up after wetting herself, police reported. Saunders then allegedly began to rape the alleged victim, slapping her in the face as she struggled and covering her nose and mouth.A child reportedly interrupted the assault and Saunders brought the child back to her bed.”When Saunders returned to [the defendant] he choked her stating ?this is what you get for waking up my daughter,'” Sacco reported. “Saunders continued to slap [the defendant] across the face and ?torture’ her for over an hour until Saunders fell asleep.”The woman reported the incident to police and then was taken to the hospital. Police said the detective sent to photograph the injuries reported the alleged victim had checked out of the hospital, however, before a rape kit was done.Swan granted the request for a dangerousness hearing and scheduled Saunders to return to court Aug. 20.
