BOSTON – With 20 of the Boston area?s top burger joints squaring off at the 2013 Boston Magazine Battle of the Burger Tuesday night, hometown favorite The Blue Ox took first place with chef Matt O?Neill?s “sin burger.”
Hundreds of people packed the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal Tuesday as restaurants like Smith & Wollensky, The Fireplace and the Boston Burger Company grilled up and dished out an endless stream of burgers.
In the end the voters had their say, and The Blue Ox beat out the Boston eateries with a prime beef burger topped with applewood smoked bacon, truffle aioli, tomato and lettuce on brioche bun.
As champion, the Blue Ox received a Battle of the Burger trophy, will be featured in Boston Magazine and will get to showcase their burger at the 2014 Amstel Light Burger Bash in Miami, Fla.
